Concert for a Cure

The weather stayed clear for a beautiful day to hold my first ever Concert for a Cure. The event was held at Melvin's on the Lake on July 15th. It was a fabulous way to raise money for The Breast Cancer 3 Day fund-raising. Events included a booth from the Green Lake Medical Center with information on cancer prevention, great prizes donated by several local business to raise some extra money in bucket drawings, a fish fry, and the main event...Jeff James in concert. It was truly a perfect day and am proud to say that we raised over $1100 from the event! Not bad at all for it's first year. Thank you to all that help to make this happen!Debbie, Ashley and Shelby working the table collecting money.

Susie, Brea and James (Brea's friend) having fun with announcing the bucket drawing winners.

Jeff James was the feature entertainment for the event. He helped make the day special and truly great!

The day wouldn't have been completely without having my family and friends there.

A Parade of Generocity!

The Spicer 4th of July Parade proved to be a great fund-raising adventure for me. My sister, nieces and my dear friend Jenni's daughter Whitney joined me in walking that parade and collecting money for The Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk. We raised nearly $800.

My Hair Chopping Adventure

June 27th, 2007 marked the 9 year anniversary of my father's passing away from cancer. In honor of him, I chopped off my hair and donated it to Beautiful Lengths, which is an organization that collects donated hair to make wigs for women who have lost their hair from the treatments needed to fight cancer.

Here is the after photo...much better than the before photo shown below. I hate having my picture taken alone so Sarah was such a good sport and had her picture taken with me. Thanks Sarah!

Here is the photo taken before my hair went on the chopping block.

Benefit Garage Sale - Extreme Adventure

With amazing support from my family and friends, we were able to pull off a very successful garage sale in which ALL proceeds went to my Breast Cancer 3-Day fundraising. The sale raised a total of $977.50, which allowed me to reach my minimum goal of $2200 for The 3 Day. So many people who stopped in and purchased gave extra for the cause. It was truly amazing and uplifting to see such generosity and support from my hometown community. Thank you to everyone who helped with the event (before, during and after) and to all of those who made purchases and donated above and beyond my wildest expectations.

A few of my awesome family that helped me continuously to make this sale happen.

A true supporter of the event, this great lady came to shop the garage sale sporting her 3-Day shirt that she received from doing the event years ago. She mentioned to me that back when she did the walk, their minimum dollar amount they needed to raise was only $100.

I think we frightened the UPS driver a bit when we ran to greet him at the truck since he was delivering our "Cancer Sucks" gear. Perfect timing from "brown". Not for certain, but I think I heard squealing tires as he darted away...he couldn't get out of there fast enough :-)

My StartLine Adventure

I attended a foot and apparel clinic at StartLine in Minnetonka today. Althought the clinic was an hour long, it was incredibly informative and a must do for any 3-Day walkers. They talked about everything from shoes, to proper apparel, to food. Fran, one of the employees at Start Line, walked the 3 Day last year and could give great advice to all the attendees. I knew that I was in desperate need of new shoes, so after the clinic, they closely evaluated how I walked/ran to fit me with a shoe that will work best for me.
You can find a direct link to their website under my 3 Day links.

Here are a few photos inside the StartLine store. It's a great place with wonderful people who work there. I highly recommend it!

Happy Feet for Hope - First Walking Adventure

Our 3 Day Team, Happy Feet for Hope, completed our first walk as a team this past Saturday (May 12th). Although we have all been in training mode for the past few weeks already, it was such a great feeling to be able to complete this as a team. The realization was made that WE CAN DO THIS! This picture was taken after our 8 mile adventure (and breakfast at Westwood)...and we're still looking fabulous.

My 3 Day Adventure

It's been about 3 weeks since I signed up for The Breast Cancer 3 Day walk. It's become very real to me how much of an adventure this is going to be. Because of this, I decided that it might be fun to capture a few images and tell a little bit of a story along the way. Keep coming back from time to time to see how it's all going.

This is me (with my dog Max)...

And these are my many reasons for walking...
